A Fresh Look at Celebrity Solstice
Discover the revitalised Celebrity Solstice following a 45-day refurbishment in Singapore.

There are ships that impress with scale, and then there are ships that win you over with mood. Stepping aboard the newly renewed Celebrity Solstice, I was struck less by flash and more by atmosphere, a sense of calm, light and easy sophistication that feels increasingly rare at sea. Following a 45-day refurbishment in Singapore, the ship has re-emerged with refreshed accommodation, new venues and a polished sense of purpose that suits today’s premium cruiser beautifully.
What Celebrity Solstice does particularly well is create space. Not just physical space, though there is plenty of that, but the kind of space that allows a voyage to unfold at its own pace. Even on a ship of this size, the experience feels surprisingly intimate. There are corners to read in, bars for a quiet pre-dinner drink, and open decks that invite you to linger rather than rush. The new Sunset Park is especially lovely, offering a more considered outdoor setting that feels designed for lingering views and long exhalations.
The refurbishment has also sharpened the ship’s identity. Celebrity has refreshed the staterooms and introduced a series of new and reimagined venues that bring a more contemporary energy onboard without losing the understated style the line does so well. It feels premium, certainly, but never stiff.
Dining remains one of Solstice’s strongest calling cards. Murano still delivers its refined French flair, while newer additions such as Trattoria Rossa and Fine Cut Steakhouse add depth and variety to the ship’s culinary offering. For travellers who like to balance indulgence with wellness, Blu continues to be a standout, particularly for AquaClass guests. It is this layering of choice, from classic special-occasion dining to lighter, more health-conscious options, that gives the ship broad appeal.
One of the most appealing aspects of the renewed ship is the way it now caters more distinctly to different styles of traveller. For suite guests, The Retreat adds a notably more exclusive dimension to the Solstice experience. Access to the private Luminae restaurant, the redesigned Retreat Lounge, and the exclusive Retreat Sundeck creates a quieter, more elevated world within the ship. Luminae offers menus reserved for Retreat guests, while the sundeck provides a more secluded place to relax, complete with hot tub access, plush loungers and dedicated service. It is an appealing option for travellers who want a little more privacy and polish without stepping away from the energy and choice of a larger premium vessel.
That wellness thread runs beyond the dining room. The Persian Garden, available to AquaClass guests and also sold as a pass for others, remains one of those quiet shipboard pleasures that frequent cruisers tend to remember long after the voyage ends. It is not simply a spa extra, it adds to the ship’s overall rhythm, reinforcing the sense that Solstice is a place designed not just for entertainment, but for restoration.
Who is this ship for?
In my view, Celebrity Solstice will resonate most strongly with mature travellers, couples and multi-generational families who want a cruise that feels a little more refined, a little less frenetic. It is not trying to be the loudest ship at sea. Its strength lies in atmosphere, comfort and a quietly confident sense of style. That makes it particularly appealing for travellers who value premium touches, but still want warmth and ease.
There is also a practical reason Solstice deserves attention from Australian travellers. Celebrity’s current published itineraries show the ship operating across Australia, Asia and Alaska, keeping it very much in the conversation for those looking at premium cruising closer to home or further afield.
Another point worth knowing for loyal cruisers is the line’s expanded status match program, which now links Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Silversea. For travellers who move between brands, that added flexibility is a meaningful bonus and gives Celebrity even more appeal within the premium conversation.
My overall impression after inspecting Celebrity Solstice is that this is not a ship trying to reinvent itself completely. It is doing something more intelligent than that. It is taking what already worked, serenity, style, good dining and a loyal following, and refining it for a new chapter. The result is a ship that feels fresher, more contemporary and very well judged for today’s premium cruise guest.
