Day 1. Fri 18 Jun: Melbourne - Adelaide
THE OVERLAND DETAILS:
Departs Melbourne 8.05am – Arrives Adelaide 6.05pm
After boarding The Overlander at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station, we begin our daytime rail journey across to Adelaide. Our journey has us travelling via Geelong and then up past the Grampians National Park and through the Central Victorian farming regions. After crossing the SA/VIC border, we continue across the Murray River at Murray Bridge and past the Adelaide Hills before concluding at Adelaide’s Parklands Terminal. After disembarking we transfer to our centrally located hotel for check-in and dinner.

Day 2. Sat 19 Jun: Adelaide
After breakfast, our day in Adelaide begins with an Introduction to Adelaide Tour, showcasing one of the bestplanned cities in the world. We then board The Popeye for our 11am Devonshire Tea Cruise, to witness Adelaide from the best seat in the house, by cruising along The Torrens River in the heart of the city. We then enjoy a break in Rundle Mall before our afternoon guided tour of the iconic St Peters Cathedral exploring its architectural heritage and fascinating history. After a rest back at our hotel, we gather for dinner in the onsite restaurant.

Day 3. Sun 20 Jun: Hahndorf - Goolwa - Victor Harbor
After breakfast and checkout, we travel through the Adelaide Hills toward Goolwa and Victor Harbor. At Mount Lofty Lookout, we enjoy sweeping panoramic views over Adelaide and its seaside suburbs. We then continue to Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement (est. 1839), where artisan boutiques, galleries, cafés, bakeries, and traditional beer gardens line the streets. In the afternoon, we board the Cockle Train in Goolwa, traveling along Australia’s oldest steel-railed railway (dating to 1854) to Victor Harbor. On arrival, we check into our resort before coming together to enjoy dinner.

Day 4. Mon 21 Jun: Victor Harbor - Coorong National Park
After breakfast, we spend some time along Victor Harbors Mainstreet Precinct before hoping onboard the 10.30am Horsedrawn Tram to Granite Island and return. We then travel across to the port of Goolwa to board our half-dayCoorong Experience Lunch Cruise, offering stunning scenery, memorable wildlife encounters, and rich cultural insights. Transit through the lock and enjoy watching Fur Seals bask in the sun, diverse birdlife, learn the ‘PipiShuffle’ at 90 Mile Beach, and view the Mouth of the Murray. At the conclusion of our cruise, we transfer back to our accommodation to freshen up before dinner.

Day 5. Tue 22 Jun: McLaren Vale - Adelaide
After checking out this morning, we take a look inside the National Trust Museum and Customs House, step back in time and explore over 200 years of local history through interactive displays, heritage rooms, and South Australia’s first recorded shipwreck. We then travel up through the McLaren Vale Wine Region for a tour, tasting and lunch platters at Wirra Wirra Winery. Then enjoy some free time in McLaren Vale before continuing back up to Adelaide where we check back into the Ibis Hotel. After a rest we enjoy dinner in the Ibis Restaurant.

Day 6. Wed 23 Jun: Adelaide
Our day begins at Adelaide Oval, one of the world’s most picturesque cricket grounds and home to the Bradman Collection. On a guided tour, we go behind the scenes where legends like Bradman, Tendulkar, Hobbs, and Hadlee made history. We visit the viewing room, players’ changerooms, and explore the Bradman Collection. Next, we head to the seaside suburb of Glenelg for free time to enjoy its cafés, shops, and jetty. In the afternoon, we tour Carrick Hill, admiring its art, exhibitions, and elegant interiors. We finish with a drink in the gardens overlooking Adelaide before returning to our hotel to freshen up ahead of our farewell dinner.

Day 7. Thu 24 Jun: Adelaide - Melbourne
After an early checkout, we transfer to Adelaide’s Parklands Terminal where we board The Overlander for our return daytime rail journey back home to Melbourne. Our journey has us once again travelling across to the SA/VIC at Bordertown, and then through Central Victoria to Geelong before arriving back at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station after our delightful week across in Adelaide and Victor Harbor with Trade Travel.
