Itinerary

FLIGHT DETAILS: Homeport - Darwin (flight details to be advised)

Welcome to the tropical north. On arrival, we transfer privately from the airport to our waterfront hotel, with the rest of the day free to settle in and acclimatise to Darwin's balmy climate. This evening, we gather for a welcome dinner at Wharf One Restaurant, just a short walk from the hotel, where a two-course meal and drinks set the tone for the adventure ahead. Overlooking the harbour, it's the perfect introduction to the Top End before thirteen days of discovery through some of Australia's most dramatic landscapes.

Daily: Dinner

After breakfast, we set off on a tour of Darwin's key sights, taking in the Museum & Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, the atmospheric WWII Oil Storage Tunnels and the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility. We stop for lunch at bustling Stokes Hill Wharf before an early evening transfer to board the Charles Darwin Sunset Dinner Cruise, watching the sky turn gold over Darwin Harbour. It's a relaxed, memorable way to see the city before we head further into the Territory tomorrow.

Daily: Breakfast & Dinner

This morning we head for Kakadu National Park, Australia's largest, stopping en route to join the thrilling Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise. A relaxed lunch stop follows before we visit the Marrawuddi Arts & Cultural Centre to browse local Indigenous art. Arriving into Kakadu in the afternoon, we check in and have time to relax before a two-course dinner at the hotel. Surrounded by ancient escarpments and wetlands, Kakadu is a World Heritage-listed landscape unlike anywhere else, and we're here for two full days of exploring

Daily: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

A full day exploring Kakadu's wetlands and rock art begins with a visit to Ubirr, time permitting, followed by the iconic 1.5-hour Yellow Waters Cruise through billabongs teeming with birdlife and crocodiles. After lunch at Cooinda Lodge, we visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before heading to Nourlangie to view some of the region's finest ancient rock art galleries. A three-course dinner at the hotel this evening rounds out a rewarding day immersed in one of Australia's most significant natural and cultural landscapes.

Daily: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We leave Kakadu this morning, stopping at Pine Creek for morning tea (own expense) before arriving into Katherine to visit the Katherine Outback Heritage Museum and enjoy a buffet lunch at the Nitmiluk Visitors Centre. In the afternoon we cruise through spectacular Katherine Gorge, where towering sandstone cliffs change colour with every bend in the river. This evening, the Katherine Outback Experience brings the region's pastoral history to life through song and storytelling, a warm and entertaining welcome to the Northern Territory's outback heart.

Daily: Breakfast

Today we cross from the Northern Territory into Western Australia, following the start of the legendary Gibb River Road to El Questro Station. We settle in for a two-night stay at Emma Gorge, where safari-style tented cabins with private facilities sit beneath the dramatic Cockburn Range, surrounded by an oasis of pandanus palms. As darkness falls, the outback sky comes alive with stars. A buffet dinner is included this evening as we ease into life in this remote and beautiful corner of the Kimberley.

Daily: Breakfast & Dinner

A leisurely start this morning gives us time to soak in the surrounds before we travel to Wyndham, the most northerly township in Western Australia, to discover its small-town charm and striking surrounding landforms and wetlands. Back at Emma Gorge, there's time to cool off with a dip in the resort pool or a nearby waterhole before relaxing on the patio for sundowners as the sun sets over the Cockburn Range. A buffet dinner at the resort caps off another unforgettable Kimberley day.

Daily: Breakfast & Dinner

After checking out, we travel to Kununurra, stopping at the Durack Homestead Museum to learn how life was for the region's early pioneers, painstakingly relocated before the surrounding land was flooded for the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. In the afternoon, we cruise the Ord River past freshwater crocodiles and birdlife, enjoying afternoon tea and sunset views along the way. We arrive into Kununurra, a relaxed town where life moves at its own pace, checking into our hotel before dinner this evening.

Daily: Breakfast & Dinner

Today brings a choice: take to the skies on an optional scenic flight, or head out on a 4WD tour, over the dramatic, World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungles of Purnululu National Park, one of the Kimberley's most extraordinary natural wonders (own expense). Afterwards, we visit the Hoochery Distillery, a farm-based micro-distillery where the owners take us behind the scenes to discover how their award-winning rums and whiskies are made, over a leisurely morning tea. The afternoon is free to relax by the pool or explore Kununurra at our own pace, with lunch and dinner at own arrangements

Daily: Breakfast

After a final breakfast at Kununurra, we check out and travel south along the Great Northern Highway, stopping for a sit-down lunch at Halls Creek. In the afternoon, we explore the remarkable Mimbi Caves with an Indigenous guide, discovering brilliantly coloured limestone formations and crystal-clear freshwater pools remaining from the Devonian Great Barrier Reef, formed over 350 million years ago. We view ancient rock art and hear the Gooniyandi Dreaming Story over billy tea and damper, before arriving at our hotel in the late afternoon for a hearty buffet dinner

Daily: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After checking out this morning, we travel overland westward to the coast, arriving into pearling town Broome around lunchtime for a city sights tour with our driver guide, taking in Streeter's Jetty, Allures, the Japanese War Cemetery and Gantheaume Point. Broome owes its existence to pearls, and today it's just as famous for its sunsets. After a stop for lunch and time to wander the township, we check into our beachside hotel before heading to Cable Beach to watch one of the region's famously spectacular sunsets, drink in hand, over the turquoise Indian Ocean.

Daily: Breakfast

Today is ours to explore Broome at leisure. Browse the pearl boutiques, stroll along Cable Beach's 22 kilometres of pristine white sand, or wander the colourful streets of Chinatown, soaking up its vibrant atmosphere and cultural offerings. In the afternoon, board the beautifully appointed catamaran Orcaella for a 4.5-hour sunset cruise in search of humpback whales, with transfers to and from the hotel included. This evening, we gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate the friendships made and memories created over the past thirteen days.

Daily: Breakfast & Dinner

Our journey across the Top End and the Kimberley comes to an end this morning. After a final breakfast, we check out before 10am and transfer together to Broome Airport, ready for onward flights. From the tropical shores of Darwin to the pearl-strewn beaches of Broome, we've crossed some of Australia's most remote and beautiful country, sharing stories, sunsets and new friendships along the way. Leave with a deeper connection to this remarkable part of Australia, and a wanderlust reignited for the next adventure.
