Day 1. Fri 5 Feb: Homeport - Lord Howe Island, Sunset Cruise

This morning, we meet our Trade Travel Host at Sydney Domestic Airport and board our flight to spectacular Lord Howe Island – an untouched paradise and UNESCO World Heritage-listed destination. On arrival, we’re greeted by our hosts from Somerset Apartments and transferred to our accommodation. After check-in, we walk to the boat shed for a magical glass-bottom boat Sunset Cruise across the lagoon, enjoying the changing colours over this island paradise. Following our cruise, we continue to the Golf Club for our welcome buffet dinner.

Day 2. Sat 6 Feb: Island Introduction Tour
We start the day with breakfast at Anchorage Restaurant before enjoying an informative Island Bus Tour. The group will be split into morning and afternoon departures, allowing time to relax and settle into the gentle rhythm of the island. Our local guides provide a refreshing introduction to Lord Howe, sharing where to go, what to do, how to make the most of our stay, and fascinating insights into island life. The tour introduces us to the island’s highlights, history, layout and local stories. This evening, we gather for dinner at the Bowling Club.

Day 3. Sun 7 Feb: North Bay Turtle & Nature Tour
After breakfast, we walk to the Marine Adventures boat shed for the North Bay Turtle & Nature Tour aboard the glass-bottom boat Adventure One. Cruising across the world’s southernmost coral reef, we look for colourful fish, turtles, stingrays and remarkable coral gardens. At North Bay, there is time to enjoy the beautiful surrounds, perhaps walk to The Old Gulch or Herring Pools, view seasonal seabird activity, enjoy a swim or simply relax on the beach. For those interested, an optional snorkel over the wreck of the Favourite may be available. Dinner tonight is at Anchorage Restaurant.

Day 4. Mon 8 Feb: Coral Viewing Cruise & Ian Hutton Lecture
This morning, we walk to the Environmental Tours boat shed for a two-hour Coral Viewing Cruise, focused on Lord Howe’s spectacular lagoon and marine environment. We glide over coral gardens and look out for turtles, stingrays and the endemic double-header wrasse. Guests may choose to snorkel at Erscott’s Hole or simply relax onboard while taking in the vibrant underwater scenery through the glass-bottom vessel. Later this afternoon, we transfer to the museum for a fascinating lecture by Ian Hutton, renowned naturalist and island resident. Afterwards, we walk to Coral Café for dinner.

Day 5. Tues 9 Feb: Clear Place Walk
After breakfast, the morning is free to relax or enjoy Lord Howe Island at leisure. Late morning, we walk to Coral Café for a light lunch before joining our guided Clear Place Walk. This easy 3km walk takes approximately two and a half hours and offers wonderful scenery and fascinating stories about the island’s birdlife, flora, fossils, palm and tourism industries, bush tucker, traditional medicine, volcanic origins and colourful local history. It is a relaxed and informative way to experience the island’s natural and cultural significance. Tonight, we enjoy our farewell dinner at Driftwood Bar & Restaurant.

Day 6. Wed 10 Feb: Lord Howe Island - Sydney - Homeport
After a final breakfast at Anchorage Restaurant, our bags are collected from our apartment verandah and we transfer to the airport with Somerset Apartments. We farewell the natural beauty, warm hospitality and relaxed pace of Lord Howe Island as we check in for our return flight to Sydney. We arrive back at Sydney Domestic Airport late morning, taking with us wonderful memories of glass-bottom boat cruises, coral gardens, island walks, local stories and unforgettable scenery from our Lord Howe Island Escape with Trade Travel.
