Day 1. Mon 19 Oct: Sydney - Harden - Junee - Wagga Wagga
This morning after meeting up with our Trade Travel Tour Host and Coach Captain, we head off on our Murray River Adventure, as we travel across through Harden and Junee to Wagga Wagga. After our morning tea stop, we arrive in Harden to take a look at the Mill Silo Art, view the amazing sculpture by Carl Valerius of Australia’s best-known war-horse, “Bill the Bastard” and then take a wander across the road to the Light Horse Memorial. After lunch at the Light Horse Hotel, we continue across to Junee to visit the Junee Roundhouse Museum which forms part of our national railway heritage. From Junee we head south to Wagga Wagga for our overnight stay. Following check in, we gather for dinner in the RSL Club at Henry’s on Goongiul, before a good night’s rest.

Day 2. Tues 20 Oct: Hay - Balranald - Mildura
Today following breakfast and checkout, we travel across through Hay, the great Hay Plains, then through Balranald before reaching the ‘Tropical North Victoria’ township of Mildura. In Hay we catch all the action, passion, and legends of Australia’s colourful shearers at Shear Outback. After a light lunch, we look through the Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame, Shear Outback Exhibition, historic Murray Downs Woolshed and then spend some time within the retail and souvenir shop. We also enjoy a stop across in Balranald to catch up with Col or Vic for a talk and tour of the Southern Cross, Lady Southern Cross and Shed. Later in the afternoon we cross the mighty Murray River into Mildura and take down Deakin Avenue to our motel where we check in for our 3 nights stay. After settling into our room’s, we catchup for pre-dinner drinks (own cost) before enjoying a buffet dinner.

Day 3. Wed 21 Oct: Mildura - Trail of Lights
After starting our day at the Mildura Tourist Centre, we venture down to the Mildura Wharf to board our local Paddleboat for a delightful cruise along the Murray River, passing by the weir, Mildura’s Lock 11 and under the Mildura Bridge. After our cruise, we head across the Murray River to enjoy a relaxing lunch and tastings alongside the banks of the river at Trentham Estate Winery. On our last stop for the day, we catch up with Mario and Maria at Orange World, enjoying a fun and very entertaining tractor train tour through the citrus orchard. After a rest and early dinner at the motel, we venture back down to the water’s edge and on to Mildura Lock Island, be captivated by the Trail of Lights, a transcendent experience, allowing connection with both the artwork and the natural environment through the interplay of 12,500 firefly lights, Gone Fishing sculptures, and the natural landscape,

Day 4. Thurs 22 Oct: Chaffey Trail - FOSO
This morning with our local guide Allison on board, we discover some of Mildura’s unique sites, the horticulture aspects of the district, Soldier Settlement of Red Cliffs, Big Lizzie, and story of the Chaffey brothers. The history of Red Cliffs is the amazing story of the largest, and probably the most successful, soldier settlement scheme ever undertaken in Australia, which began in 1918, just as the first Australian Diggers were being repatriated after WW1. After viewing the “Pioneer Blockies Wall of Honour”, and stopping by the “Peacewalk Memorial”, we travel down to the Murray River Red Cliffs Lookout. Our next stop is the Psyche Pump Station, built in 1891 by the Chaffey brothers to meet the needs of the irrigation settlement, water was pumped from the Murray River to Kings Billabong and then distributed throughout the area via a series of channels. Our next visit is back in Mildura for lunch at Vista Cafe and to continue the Chaffey story at Rio Vista House and Mildura Arts Centre, enjoy a self-guided tour of the historic Rio Vista House and stroll through the Art Gallery. Outside we admire the gardens and sculptures, before heading back to our motel to relax and freshen up. Later in the afternoon, we head out to Wentworth where the mighty Murray and Darling Rivers meet as one. Our first port of call is at the new Wentworth Visitor Information Centre to view the amazing displays that tell the stories of the towns and settlements, irrigation, buildings, landmarks, and history of the Barkindji people and Mungo National Park. We then take a drive down to the Murray-Darling Junction Lookout and Wentworth Weir before enjoying dinner at the Crown Hotel. Our day concludes at Thego Lagoon and the Perry Sandhills for sunset drinks, and to witness “FOSO” the “Fibre Optic Symphony Orchestra”, an immersive artistic experience combining quintessential Australian imagery with cutting-edge technology, and musical composition to create a truly unique spectacle.

Day 5. Fri 23 Oct: Robinvale - Swan Hill
This morning, we depart Mildura for Swan Hill, travelling via Robinvale, where we stop by the Robinvale-Euston Visitor Information Centre and Rural Life Museum. On arrival in Swan Hill, we enjoy a couple of hours at leisure to explore the many aspects of the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. After checking in and freshening up, we have an early dinner at the Swan Hill RSL, then witness the spectacular laser lights show “The Heartbeat of the Murray”.

Day 6. Sat 24 Oct: Lake Boga - Boort - Echuca
Following checkout, we set sail for the Port of Echuca via Lake Boga and Boort. At Lake Boga we check out the Flying Boat Museum, once an integral part of allied defence during World War II. Another unique stop is at the “Spannerman Sculptures”, the creation of the late John Piccoli and his wife Sonia. We then enjoy lunch by Lake Boort before heading across to Echuca for our last stop for the day at The Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm Museum. The Great Aussie Beer Shed is one of the most unique and entertaining tourist attractions in Australia. Our afternoon tour will take us right back down memory lane with an unbelievable display of Aussie Icon paraphernalia including over 17,000 beer cans from Australia and around the world. We then cross the Murray River once again before checking into our motel for our 2-night stay and dinner.

Day 8. Mon 26 Oct: Cactus Country - Lake Mulwala Lunch Cruise - Albury
After breakfast and checkout this morning, our journey of the Murray River continues as we stop by the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre to learn about the fascinating and diverse history of this iconic region and to be amazed by the struggles of our forefathers, from pre-history to the present day. Our next stop is at Australia’s largest cactus garden, Cactus Country, located in the charming town of Strathmerton. After morning tea, we experience a little Mexican Mojave, African Sahara, and the Argentinian Patagonia as we follow one of the eight sandy trails through the 12-acre desert oasis amongst thousands of cacti and succulents. It’s then time to sit back, relax and enjoy lunch on the MV Paradise Queen as we cruise Lake Mulwala. If time permits, we may stop for a wine tasting at All Saints Estate in the Rutherglen Wine Region before arriving in Albury for check in, dinner and final night stay.

Day 9. Tues 27 Oct: Holbrook - Bowning - Sydney
Our last day on tour has us travelling up through Holbrook and Bowning before continuing along the Hume Highway to Sydney. After a stop by the HMAS Otway Submarine and look through the Submarine Museum in Holbrook, we arrive in Bowning for lunch at the rustic Rollonin Cafe, home of Mac the Clydesdale. Following lunch, we continue our drive back to Sydney, arriving late afternoon after a wonderful adventure down along the Mighty Murray River with Trade Travel.

Day 8. Sun 25 Oct: Port of Echuca & Murray River Cruise
Our day today begins at the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre where several audiovisual models and displays interpret the story of Australia’s inland river system, the history of Paddlesteamers, and how they connected a fledglin colony to its growing cities and the outside world. We head to the historic wharf precinct to board the century old PS Canberra, affectionately known as our “old lady of the river”. After our morning cruise we enjoy time in the historic Port of Echuca Precinct filled with unique shops, cafés, museums, and arcades. This afternoon we catch up with our local guide, Gwen Potter before setting off on a guided highlights and introduction tour of Echuca and Moama. Later thi afternoon we return to our motel where we enjoy our farewell dinner in the restaurant.
