Itinerary


This morning after meeting up with our Trade Travel Tour Host and Coach Captain, we head off on our Murray River Adventure, as we travel down to Harden, Junee and Wagga Wagga. After our morning tea stop, we arrive inHarden to take a look at the Mill Silo Art, then view and hear the story of the amazing sculpture by Carl Valerius of Australia’s best-known war-horse, “Bill the Bastard”. Then take a wander across the road to the Light Horse Memorial before lunch at Barnestore Cafe. This afternoon we pay a visit to the Junee Roundhouse Museum before continuing on to Wagga to check-in at the Wagga RSL Club Motel before meeting up for dinner in the RSL Club.

After breakfast and checkout, we travel across the Hay Plains via Hay and Balranald before reaching Mildura, Victoria’s tropical north. In Hay, we visit Shear Outback to discover the action, passion and legends of Australia’s colourful shearing heritage. Following a light lunch, we explore the Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame, Shear Outback Exhibition and the historic Murray Downs Woolshed. Across in Balranald, we stop by the award-winning Balranald Discovery Centre, a state-of-the-art tourist complex. Later, we cross the mighty Murray River into Mildura, check into our motel for our three-night stay, then gather for buffet dinner.

We start our day at the Mildura Tourist Centre before boarding a classic paddleboat at Mildura Wharf for a scenic cruise along the Murray River. Following our cruise, enjoy a leisurely lunch and wine tastings at Trentham Estate Winery, set on the riverbank. This afternoon, meet the colourful hosts at Orange World, and tour the citrus orchard aboard their famous tractor train. After a freshen up, we discover the spectacular Trail of Lights on Mildura Lock Island, where thousands of glowing firefly lights, striking sculptures and the natural landscape create a truly magical experience. After leaving the island, we enjoy a relaxing dinner back at the motel.

Today we discover Sunraysia's rich history with our local guide, after taking in the sights of Mildura, we explore the region’s horticulture, the Red Cliffs Soldier Settlement, Big Lizzie and the legacy of the Chaffey brothers. Visit the Pioneer Blockies Wall of Honour, Peacewalk Memorial, Red Cliffs Lookout and the historic Psyche Pump Station. After a picnic lunch, explore Rio Vista House and the Mildura Arts Centre before heading back to our motel to freshen up. Late afternoon we travel out to Wentworth, where the Murray and Darling Rivers meet. Visit the Junction Lookout and Wentworth Weir, then end the day with nibbles and sunset drinks and the spectacular Fibre Optic Symphony Orchestra at Thegoa Lagoon. We then head back to the motel for dinner and a good night's rest.

This morning, we depart Mildura for Robinvale and Swan Hill, we stop by the Robinvale-Euston Visitor Information Centre and Rural Life Museum. After a cuppa we continue past Boundary Bend and Nyah before arriving in Swan Hill, home to The Giant Murray Cod and Pioneer Settlement. On arrival in Swan Hill, we enjoy a couple of hours at leisure to explore the many aspects of the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. After check-in and freshen up, we witness the spectacular laser lights show “Legends of the Murray”, which intertwines the Mallee’s past, present, and future, creating an unmissable, enchanting spectacle. Following the show, we enjoy dinner at the RSL Club.

After breakfast and checkout, travel to Echuca via Lake Boga and Boort. Visit the fascinating Flying Boat Museum at Lake Boga, which played an important role in Australia’s World War II defence. Continue to the quirky Spannerman Sculptures, a remarkable collection created by John and Sonia Piccoli, before enjoying lunch overlooking Lake Boort. This afternoon, step back in time at The Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm Museum, home to an extraordinary collection of over 17,000 beer cans and nostalgic Australian memorabilia. We then cross the Murray River into Echuca, check into our riverside motel for a two-night stay, and enjoy dinner together alongside the river.

We begin the day at the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre, where interactive displays bring to life the history of Australia’s inland rivers and the iconic paddle steamers. Stroll to the historic wharf to board the century-old PS Canberra for a memorable Murray River cruise. Afterwards, enjoy free time exploring the charming Port of Echuca precinct, with its boutique shops, cafés, museums and heritage buildings. This afternoon, join local guide Gwen Potter for an informative highlights tour of Echuca and Moama, discovering the region’s rich history and character. Later in the afternoon we head back to our river-side motel to relax before our farewell dinner.

After breakfast and checkout, continue our Murray River journey with a visit to the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre, discovering the region’s rich natural and cultural history. Travel to Strathmerton’s renowned Cactus Country, Australia’s largest cactus garden, where sandy trails wind through thousands of spectacular cacti and succulents from around the world. Following morning tea, enjoy a relaxing lunch cruise aboard the MV Paradise Queen on scenic Lake Mulwala. If time permits, call into All Saints Estate in the Rutherglen Wine Region for a wine tasting before arriving in Albury to check into our motel and enjoy our final dinner together.

Our last day on tour has us travelling up through Holbrook and Bowning before continuing along the Hume Highway to Sydney. After a stop by the HMAS Otway Submarine and look through the Submarine Museum in Holbrook, we arrive in Bowning for lunch at the rustic Rollonin Cafe, home of Mac the Clydesdale. Following lunch, we continue our drive back up to Sydney arriving back late afternoon after a wonderful adventure down along the Mighty Murray River with Trade Travel.
