Day 1. Tue 18 May: Homeport - Brisbane - Longreach

We arrive in Longreach this afternoon on our QantasLink flight from Brisbane and meet our Savannah Guides driver-host for a comfortable transfer to our accommodation. Later, visit the Qantas Founders Museum, a cornerstone of Australian aviation history. Explore the Airpark before experiencing the spectacular Luminescent Light Show, where historic aircraft come alive through music and storytelling. The evening concludes with a relaxed two-course dinner within the museum surrounds - a memorable introduction to our first night in Longreach.

Day 2. Wed 19 May: Longreach Outback Rail Adventure
After breakfast, we join the Outback Rail Adventure aboard the Heritage 2000 Class rail motor, travelling to the Darr River Waterhole via the Mulga Walk and through the diverse landscapes iconic to Longreach. Savour a bush smoko including billy tea and damper, then sit back and soak up the romance of rail as we enjoy the vast open plains and hear the stories and charm of the historic Wellshot Hotel and the town of Ilfracombe. Midafternoon, we return to Longreach aboard the rail motor, with time to reflect on our team’s shared stories and experiences of an incredible day full of fun, outback yarns, and hospitality

Day 3. Thu 20 May: Winton Dinosaurs & Waltzing Matilda
After an early breakfast, travel across the vast open plains and coolabah-lined creeks to Winton in the beautiful early light of day. Our first stop is the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, dramatically perched atop a mesa overlooking the vast Mitchell Grass Plains where dinosaurs once roamed. Here, we’ll enjoy a first-class interpretive tour of the working laboratory and collection room, guided by passionate dinosaur experts. We then continue into the historic town of Winton to visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre, the only museum in the world dedicated to a song, and the famous North Gregory Hotel, where “Waltzing Matilda” was first recited over 100 years ago. After an unforgettable day, we return to Longreach in time to freshen up for dinner.

Day 4. Fri 21 May: Longreach
After breakfast, visit the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame to watch an introductory film and explore the museum on a self-guided audio tour featuring stories from Hugh Sawrey, R.M. Williams, Indigenous stock workers and outback pioneers. Enjoy the live Stockman’s Show before lunch at Bruce Yeates Memorial Cottage. This evening, cruise the Thomson River aboard the M.V. Longreach Explorer at sunset with drinks and nibbles, then continue to Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show for a camp oven feast, billy tea and live entertainment under the stars.

Day 5. Sat 22 May: Longreach - Brisbane
This morning, we load our luggage and board the coach as we enjoy a leisurely departure day. Join a relaxing tour of the Longreach township, with optional time to explore downtown to find our own coffee spot and meet some of the locals before enjoying a light early lunch prior to check-in and flight back Brisbane, taking with us many wonderful memories of our time in the outback with Trade Travel and their partner Outback Aussie Tours.

INTERSTATE PASSENGERS: On arrival into Brisbane we transfer across to the Novotel for check-in.

Day 6. Sun 23 May: Brisbane - Homeport
After breakfast and checkout, we make our way across to the airport terminal for check in and flight back home, taking with us many wonderful memories of our time in the outback with Trade Travel and partners Outback Aussie Tours.
