Day 1. Sun 18 Oct: Sydney Central Station - Echo Point - Portland - Mudgee
Travel beyond the Blue Mountains toward the Mudgee region, beginning with a stop at Echo Point to admire the iconic Three Sisters. Continue to Portland for lunch. Meet a local guide for a fascinating exploration of the Foundations precinct and striking silo murals celebrating the town’s cement works history before arriving in Mudgee for a three-night stay at Parklands Resort. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 2. Mon 19 Oct: Gulgong - Mudgee
Today visit the beautifully preserved gold rush town of Gulgong, famously featured on Australia’s $10 note. Explore the UNESCO-listed Holtermann Museum and Collection, followed by the Henry Lawson Centre celebrating one of Australia’s greatest writers. Wander heritage streets lined with iron-lace balconies, cafés and historic buildings including the Prince of Wales Opera House. Visit the renowned Gulgong Pioneers Museum before returning toward Mudgee via Gooree Park Thoroughbred Horse Stud, Cellar Door and Pantry. Enjoy vineyard scenery and local produce before returning to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3. Tue 20 Oct: Mudgee History, Gourmet Delights
Begin the day at the Colonial Inn Museum, housed in the former West End Hotel and showcasing over 60,000 historical items. Meet local historian John Broadly before taking a guided tour through Mudgee and surrounding districts. Enjoy free time in town to browse the High Valley Mudgee Cheese Factory and Cellar by Gilbert. This afternoon visit Robert Stein Vineyard and Winery for panoramic vineyard views, wine tastings and local salami samples, plus the optional vintage motorcycle museum. Finish the day at Mudgee Honey Haven sampling honey, mead and regional delicacies before dinner.

Day 4. Wed 21 Oct: Wellington - Orange
Farewell Mudgee and journey toward Wellington Caves for the spectacular Cathedral Cave Tour, featuring towering limestone crystal formations formed over millions of years. Guests not participating in the cave tour can enjoy the Ancient Landscape Gallery, Fossil Trail and Japanese Gardens. Continue to Orange, stopping at the Orange Botanical Gardens before lunch at Eat Botanic. Later, explore the award-winning Orange Regional Museum showcasing local history and travelling exhibitions. We check into our accommodation for a two-night stay in Orange before gathering with the group for dinner this evening.

Day 5. Thu 22 Oct: Orange - Millthorpe
Enjoy a guided tour of Orange’s heritage-listed Cook Park, famous for its seasonal floral displays and the Blowes Conservatory. Visit Bastick Cottage and browse locally handcrafted goods before travelling to the charming village of Millthorpe. Explore the Golden Memories Museum featuring rural technology, pioneer exhibits and Australian inventions. After lunch at Millthorpe Providore, return to Orange via the Lucknow Skin Shop and Boot Barn. End the day at Philip Shaw Wines, sampling regional wines paired with local cheese and charcuterie before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Day 6. Fri 23 Oct: Bathurst - Mayfield Gardens - Leichhardt
After breakfast, begin the return journey through Bathurst and the Blue Mountains. Drive the famous Mount Panorama racing circuit before visiting the National Motor Racing Museum celebrating Australia’s motorsport legends, including Peter Brock. Continue to the magnificent 65-hectare Mayfield Gardens, where a garden host introduces the estate’s history and seasonal highlights. Enjoy lunch before exploring Australia’s largest privately owned cool-climate garden, featuring lakes, grottoes, hedge mazes and beautifully designed landscapes. Later, continue homeward through the Blue Mountains, concluding a memorable regional New South Wales adventure.
