This morning, we meet our Trade Travel Host at Sydney Airport and board our flight to spectacular Lord Howe Island - an untouched paradise and UNESCO World Heritage-listed destination. On arrival, we’re greeted by our hosts from Somerset Apartments and transferred to our accommodation. Nestled between Neds Beach and the Lagoon, Somerset is the ideal base to explore the island, with easy walking access to shops, restaurants, and the Visitor Centre. The apartments are set among lush subtropical gardens, where vibrant hibiscus and fragrant frangipani bloom beneath towering palms. Winding garden paths add a sense of tranquility and charm. This evening, our welcome dinner will be at the scenic Lord Howe Island Golf Club.

Day 2. Mon 7 Dec: Island Introduction Tour & Lecture
We start the day off with a delicious breakfast at Anchorage Restaurant, before our morning or afternoon guided bus tour - we will be split into two groups (as required) and introduced to the highlights, history, and layout of the island. We will gain insights into local life, hidden gems, and how best to spend our time here. Later, we enjoy a fascinating lecture by Ian Hutton, renowned naturalist and island resident, who brings Lord Howe’s ecology, history, and conservation efforts to life. This evening, we dine at the Coral Café.

Day 3. Tues 8 Dec: North Bay Turtle Tour & Sunset Cruise
After breakfast, we walk to the Marine Adventures shed for our North Bay Turtle & Nature Tour aboard the glass bottom boat Adventure One. We cruise over the southernmost coral reef, spotting turtles, stingrays, and colourful fish. At North Bay, we soak up views of Mt Eliza, visit the Old Gulch or Herring Pools, or relax on the beach. For those interested, there’s the option to snorkel over the wreck of the Favourite (1965). A light lunch is included today at Coral Café. Later in the afternoon, we embark on a magical glass-bottom boat Sunset Cruise across the lagoon, followed by a shared platter-style dinner at Driftwood Bar & Restaurant.

Day 4. Wed 9 Dec: Clear Place Walk & Historical Movie Night
After breakfast, we set off on the Clear Place Walk - a gentle 3km journey through island bushland, packed with fascinating stories of Lord Howe’s flora, fauna, bush tucker, and volcanic history. This relaxed and informative experience showcases the natural and cultural significance of the island. Later in the day, we enjoy historical films at the local hall, before walking to Anchorage Restaurant for a two-course dinner.

Day 5. Thur 10 Dec: Coral Viewing Cruise, Nursery & Brewery Visit
This morning, we board a coral viewing boat for an immersive lagoon eco-cruise. We glide over vibrant coral gardens and look out for turtles, stingrays, and the iconic double-header wrasse - unique to Lord Howe Island. Those interested may opt to snorkel at Erscott’s Hole, a renowned marine spot teeming with life. In the afternoon, we visit the local palm nursery and micro-brewery for a relaxed guided tour, learning about local flora and island-grown produce. This evening, we enjoy a casual dinner at the Lord Howe Island Bowling Club.

Day 6. Fri 11 Dec: Lord Howe Island - Sydney - Homeport
After a final breakfast at Anchorage, our bags are collected from our apartment. We enjoy a relaxed morning before transferring to the airport for our flight home to Sydney. We farewell this island paradise, taking with us unforgettable memories of our time on Lord Howe Island with Trade Travel.
