Day 0. Sun 8 Nov: Homeport - Melbourne
Flight Details: VA Sydney / Canberra / Brisbane / Adelaide / Perth to Melbourne (flight details upon request). Following our flight to Melbourne, we make our own way to the Best Western Melbourne Airport using the complimentary shuttle to check in and relax. Dinner this evening will be at Reflections Bar & Restaurant.

Day 1. Mon 9 Nov: Melbourne - King Island
Flight Details: SH Melbourne (Essendon) to King Island 08:15 / 09:00 (flight details subject to change) This morning, we transfer to Melbourne (Essendon) Airport to meet guests joining from Melbourne before checking in with Sharp Airlines for our flight to King Island. On arrival, we are welcomed by our expert local guide who will accompany us throughout our touring. Following an introduction to island life, we enjoy lunch at the King Island Hotel before discovering the iconic King Island Kelp Industries. Our Kelp Trail tour around Burgess Bay explains the harvesting and refining processes and the many uses of kelp today. We continue to Currie, stopping at the charming harbour-side “Restaurant Without Food. ” Later, we check in to Island Breeze Resort and meet our hostess, Julie. This evening, we enjoy a welcome dinner featuring quality local produce and authentic island flavours.

Day 2. Tues 10 Nov: Northern King Island
After breakfast, we explore northern King Island, keeping watch for pheasants, peacocks and turkeys. We visit Shag Lagoon Bird Hide and the historic Reekara School Community Complex, with time to browse local crafts at the Top Shop. At Quarantine Bay, enjoy views to Christmas and New Year Islands before continuing to Martha Lavinia Beach, one of Australia’s top surf breaks. A picnic lunch is enjoyed at Penny’s Lagoon, a rare, perched lake. We travel on to Disappointment Bay and Cape Wickham Lighthouse, the tallest granite lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere. Tastings at King Island Dairy follow. This evening, dine at The View Restaurant before visiting the fairy penguin colony

Day 4. Wed 11 Nov: Southern King Island
After a leisurely breakfast, we travel through King Island’s productive farming country to Naracoopa on the east coast, where European explorers first landed. En route, we learn about the island’s transition from diesel power to a world-leading hybrid wind and solar system and visit the Small Species Abattoir for insight into local industry. We continue to Sea Elephant River and Blowhole Beach before lunch at Café Brewer. This afternoon, we visit Surprise Bay and hear the pioneering story of the Bowling family. A walk at the Calcified Forest reveals fossilised rainforest
stumps, followed by dramatic views at Seal Rocks Lookout. Returning via Ettrick and Millers Bay, we enjoy a farewell dinner at the King Island Club.

Day 5. Thu 12 Nov: King Island – Flinders Island
Flight Details: SH King Island to Flinders Island 11:40 / 12:45 (flight details subject to change) After breakfast and checkout, we farewell Julie and visit the King Island Historical Society Museum, set in a former lighthouse keeper’s cottage. We then transfer to the airport for our Sharp Airlines flight to Flinders Island. On arrival, we meet our local guide, for an introductory tour of Whitemark, including the Bowman History Room, followed by lunch at the Interstate Hotel. Travelling south to Lady Barron, we view MSA cattle and Cape Barren Geese while learning about the island’s beef industry, with a stop at James’ property, Avondale. After a short tour of
Lady Barron, we check in to The Furneaux Tavern before dinner at the Shearwater Restaurant.

Day 6. Fri 13 Nov: Flinders Island Touring
Early risers may enjoy a sunrise walk along the Lady Barron Foreshore Track. After breakfast, we explore the island’s northwestern corner. We stop at Castle Rock overlooking Marshall Bay - a stunning photo opportunity with red lichen against white sands. We continue to the mouth of the North East River, rich in birdlife including black swans, oystercatchers and Cape Barren Geese. At Palana, we view WWII coastal surveillance bunkers. Lunch is at Killiecrankie Bay, famous for its “Killiecrankie diamonds. ” This afternoon, we visit Wybalenna, the former Aboriginal
settlement (1833–1847), and reflect on its significant and sobering history. Further photo stops include Lillie’s Beach and Allports Beach before visiting the Furneaux Museum near Emita. Our final stop is Tobias Furneaux Lookout before returning to Lady Barron.

Day 7. Sat 14 Nov: Flinders Island Touring
After breakfast, we visit Cameron Inlet, a vital habitat for migratory and resident shorebirds. Guests may enjoy a beach stroll or a 3km walk to the historic Planter Wreck (1877). Morning tea is shared with Kate Mooney, Flinders Island’s beloved “Wombat Lady, ” who recounts her years caring for orphaned wombats. Travelling past Petrifaction Bay, we enter Strzelecki National Park to explore Trousers Point and Fotheringate Bay, known for dramatic granite formations and views to Mt Strzelecki. Lunch is at Mountain Seas Lodge with sweeping ocean views. This afternoon, we follow part of the Furneaux Geology Trail before wine tasting at Unavale Vineyard. Tonight, we enjoy a farewell dinner at The Furneaux Tavern.

Day 8. Sun 15 Nov: Walkers Lookout – Whitemark – Homeport
After breakfast and checkout, we travel to Walkers Lookout for a final panoramic view before continuing to Whitemark for free time. We say farewell to our local guide and transfer to the airport for our return flight to Melbourne. We arrive home after a memorable King and Flinders Island Discovery with Trade Travel and island
partners.
