Itinerary Ex Sydney/Melbourne


Day 0. Sat 19 Dec: Melbourne - Sydney

FLIGHT DETAILS: Melbourne - Sydney (flight times to be advised)

We will fly from Melbourne to Sydney, where we will spend the night before joining the group the following day for our onward flight to Norfolk Island. Upon arrival in Sydney, we transfer to our hotel for check-in and enjoy the evening at our leisure.

Day 1. Sun 20 Dec: Sydney - Norfolk Island

We arrive on Norfolk Island and step off the plane into fresh ocean air. Our Baunti Tours guide greets us at the airport before transferring us to the South Pacific Resort Hotel where we settle in and begin our Norfolk Island Christmas experience together. After a rest and freshen up we gather at the resort for dinner.

Day 2. Mon 21 Dec: Discover Norfolk, Murder Mystery Dinner

This morning we enjoy the Discover Norfolk Tour, a perfect introduction to the island. We take a scenic drive with knowledgeable local guides who share stories of Norfolk’s history, culture and landscapes, and we visit the local markets to experience island life firsthand. In the afternoon we join the Island Culture Tour where we learn how Polynesian, convict and Pitcairn influences have shaped Norfolk’s traditions, language and way of life. We taste local dishes prepared from seasonal island ingredients and gain a deeper appreciation of the community’s heritage. This evening, we enjoy the lively “Who Killed the Surveyor?” Murder Mystery Dinner. We step into a playful convict trial filled with laughter, suspense and a hearty island meal - a wonderful way to meet fellow travellers and set the tone for the week ahead.

Day 3. Tue 22 Dec: Norfolk Today, Colleen McCullough, Progressive Dinner

Today, we discover the modern Norfolk during the Norfolk Today Tour. We go behind the scenes to learn how essential services function on a small South Pacific island - from fuel and freight to power generation, waste management and communications - and we meet the locals who keep everything running smoothly. This afternoon, we visit “Out Yenna,” the home of world-renowned author Colleen McCullough. View artefacts collected from around the world and gain insight into the life and legacy of this celebrated literary figure. This evening, we experience a highlight of the week - the Progressive Dinner, enjoying three courses across three different island homes. We share stories around the table, meet local hosts and experience genuine Norfolk hospitality.

Day 4. Wed 23 Dec: Convict Tour, Settlers Village, Commandants Dinner

This morning we step back in time on our guided Convict Kingston Tour through the World Heritage-listed settlement. As we wander among the atmospheric ruins, we hear stories of convicts, officers and settlers who shaped the island’s dramatic past. This afternoon experiences the proud heritage of the Pitcairn Island settlers at the Pitcairn Settlers Village, touring through the gracious Bailey homestead, gardens barn dairy and outbuildings. Tonight, we attend the Commandant’s Dinner, an interactive theatre experience that brings the convict era vividly to life while we enjoy a hearty meal worthy of a colonial table.

Day 5. Thu 24 Dec: Breakfast Bush Walk, Taste of Norfolk, Baunti Fish Fry

We start the day with an early Breakfast Bushwalk, taking in sweeping coastal views, spotting native plants and birdlife, and finishing with a delicious alfresco breakfast. In the afternoon we experience Taste of Norfolk, sampling local dishes and delicacies while learning how the island’s environment and history have influenced its cuisine. This evening, we attend the iconic Island Fish Fry, set at a stunning cliff-top location. We feast on freshly caught fish and island dishes while watching the sun set over the Pacific, accompanied by local music and traditional island dancing.

Day 6. Fri 25 Dec: Norfolk Traditional Christmas Lunch

After a relaxing breakfast and start to the day, we catch up with Santa beside the Christmas Tree and see what special gift he has for us. We then settle in to enjoy our traditional Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings and singalong to some of our favourite carols.

Day 7. Fri 25 Dec: Norfolk Traditional Christmas Lunch

After a relaxing breakfast and start to the day, we catch up with Santa beside the Christmas Tree and see what special gift he has for us. We then settle in to enjoy our traditional Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings and singalong to some of our favorite carols.

Day 8. Sun 27 Dec: Markets, Norfolk Island - Sydney - Melbourne

We enjoy a relaxed final morning with free time to revisit the markets, take a last stroll or simply soak in the peaceful island atmosphere. Later we transfer to Norfolk Island Airport for our flight home, departing with wonderful memories of our Christmas getaway and the warm hospitality of Norfolk Island.

In the afternoon we join the Island Culture Tour where we learn how Polynesian, convict and Pitcairn influences have shaped Norfolk’s traditions, language and way of life. We taste local dishes prepared from seasonal island ingredients and gain a deeper appreciation of the community’s heritage. After a freshen up back at the resort we enjoy dinner at the hotel.

This morning after breakfast and checkout, discover the amazing story of Norfolk Island in this quirky museum. The Bounty Folk Museum is a treasure chest of history, an Aladdin's cave full of fantastic collections, excellent learning resources and inspiring information stretching back to 1788. Later we transfer to Norfolk Island Airport for our flight home, departing with wonderful memories of our Christmas getaway and the warm hospitality of Norfolk Island.
