Day 1. Mon 02 Nov: Sydney to Tokyo

Arrive in Japan and be warmly welcomed at the airport by a friendly English-speaking assistant, who will be on hand to guide you through the arrival process and answer any initial questions. After clearing customs, enjoy a comfortable and seamless door-to-door transfer directly to your hotel in Tokyo. Sit back and take in your first glimpses of the city as you travel. Upon arrival at your hotel, check in and settle into your room.

Day 2. Tue 03 Nov: Full Day Tokyo Sightseeing

Discover Tokyo’s iconic sights on a full-day guided tour. Visit Asakusa’s historic Sensoji Temple and browse traditional souvenirs along Nakamise Street. Continue to Tokyo SkyTree for impressive city views, then explore sumo culture at the Ryogoku Sumo Museum. Experience the electric energy of Akihabara, Tokyo’s famous electronics and pop-culture district. This comprehensive introduction blends ancient traditions with modern innovation.

Day 3. Wed 04 Nov: Mt Fuji & Hakone Area

Travel out of Tokyo for a scenic full-day excursion to Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes region. Ascend to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station, weather permitting, before continuing to the Kawaguchi area and Oishi Park for classic views of Japan’s most famous mountain. Enjoy lunch and pass Lake Kawaguchi before climbing the steps (optional, 398 steps) at Arakurayama Sengen Park for panoramic vistas.

Day 4. Thu 05 Nov: Tokyo at Leisure

Enjoy a full free day to explore Tokyo independently. An IC card preloaded with JPY 3,000 is provided, making public transport easy and convenient. Discover neighbourhoods such as Shibuya, Harajuku, or Ginza, visit museums, shop, or enjoy themed cafés.

Day 5. Fri 06 Nov: Tokyo to Kyoto

This morning, luggage is transferred ahead while you travel by bullet train to Kyoto. Upon arrival, join a guided halfday tour of Japan’s former imperial capital. Wander through the enchanting Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, visit the golden pavilion of Kinkakuji Temple, and enjoy a traditional walk through Gion, where you may spot a Maiko. The day beautifully introduces Kyoto’s elegance and history. Please pack an overnight bag as our main luggage will be sent ahead to Kyoto arriving on day 6.

Day 6. Sat 07 Nov: Kyoto & Nara Highlights

Explore Kyoto and Nara on a full-day guided tour. Walk through the iconic torii gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine, followed by a sake brewery visit with tasting. Continue to Nara Deer Park, where friendly deer roam freely, and visit the impressive Todaiji Temple, home to the Great Buddha. This day blends spiritual landmarks, cultural traditions, and historic architecture.

Day 7. Sun 08 Nov: Kyoto at Leisure

Spend the day discovering Kyoto at your own pace. Visit additional temples, explore traditional markets, or stroll along the Philosopher’s Path. Optional experiences can be arranged, from tea ceremonies to cooking classes. This free day allows you to deepen your connection with Kyoto’s refined culture and timeless atmosphere.

Day 8. Sat 09 Nov: Kyoto to Hiroshima via Miyajima

Travel by bullet train to Hiroshima, with luggage forwarded to Fukuoka. Continue to Miyajima Island for a guided visit, including a ferry ride and the iconic Itsukushima Shrine with its floating torii gate. Experience a calming Zen meditation session at a local temple before returning to Hiroshima. Tonight enjoy a traditional Japanese kaiseki dinner. Please pack an overnight bag as our main luggage will be sent ahead to Fukuoka arriving on day 9.

Day 9. Sun 10 Nov: Hiroshima & Fukuoka

Begin with a guided Hiroshima city tour, visiting the Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Memorial Park, and Peace Memorial Museum. Continue by bullet train to Fukuoka and enjoy a guided afternoon tour including Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and Yusentei Japanese Garden. In the evening, join a foodie walk through Nakasu’s famous yatai food stalls, with dinner included.

Day 10. Mon 11 Nov: Live Sumo Tournament Experience

Today is a highlight of the journey as you attend a live professional sumo tournament. Watch the full progression of bouts, from preliminary matches to the elite Makuuchi division, concluding with the ceremonial bow-twirling. This immersive cultural experience offers rare insight into Japan’s national sport. Dinner is enjoyed at a local restaurant

Day 11. Tue 12 Nov: Fukuoka to Osaka

Travel by bullet train to Osaka, with luggage transferred separately. Enjoy a guided half-day city tour featuring Osaka Castle, Kuromon Market, and the specialist cookware street of Doguyasuji. End the day in Dotonbori, famous for its vibrant neon lights and street food. Osaka’s lively atmosphere offers a striking contrast to Kyoto’s refinement. Please pack an overnight bag as our main luggage will be sent ahead to Osaka arriving on day 12.

Day 12. Wed 13 Nov: Osaka at Leisure

Enjoy a free day to explore Osaka independently. Visit Universal Studios Japan, explore nearby Kobe or continue discovering the city’s shopping and culinary scene. Optional arrangements are available for additional experiences. This relaxed day allows you to enjoy Osaka at your own rhythm.

Day 13. Thu 14 Nov: Departure from Japan

After breakfast, transfer to Kansai International Airport for your departure flight back to Sydney and onwards to your homeport.
