Day 1: Australia – Lima
Fly from Australia to Lima via Santiago. Transfer from airport to hotel.
Day 2: Lima
City tour of Lima, including the historic centre with its many colonial buildings, the Basilica San Francisco and the oldest colonial mansion in Lima, Casa Aliaga.
Day 3: Lima – Sacred Valley
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cusco. Met on arrival and transfer to the hotel in the Sacred Valley. Enroute visit the village of Chincheros with its colourful
Day 4: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu
Explore the valley today, visiting the village of Pisac
with its colourful market and ruins. Continue to Ollantaytambo and its imposing fortress. Later
in the afternoon, board the train for the scenic journey to Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of
Day 5: Machu Picchu - Cusco
Rise early to experience the sunrise at Machu Picchu, then continue exploring the ruins with a local guide. The afternoon is at leisure before boarding the train
for the journey back to Cusco.
Day 6: Cusco.
City tour of Cusco and its surrounding ruins. Visit Koricancha (Temple of the Sun), Sacsayhuman, the Q’enqo, Puca Cara and Tambomachay (Temple of the Water).
Day 7: Cusco - Puno
Early morning transfer to the coach station in Cusco for the full day overland journey to Puno, stopping for lunch enroute. Sightseeing today will include a visit to the
site of Pukara with its tombs and unusual sculptures, La Raya at a staggering 4,335 metres above sea level, the 100 metre long Inca church of Raqchi, and Andahuaylillas, commonly known as the Sistine Chapel of South America. Arrive into Puno early evening and transfer to the hotel for a 2 night stay.
Day 8: Lake Titicaca.
Enjoy a full day tour to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Explore the floating Uros Islands and meet a community that lives almost exclusively on
these reed islands. Sail on to Taquile Island and visit a traditional Quechua community with terrace
farming and ruins that date back to pre-Inca times. Free time to explore the island before returning
to Puno for an evening at leisure.
Day 9: Puno - Australia
Morning at leisure prior to transferring to the airport for the return flight to Australia, via Lima and Santiago
Day 10: Inflight
Day 11: Arrive Australia
