Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival Hobart

Welcome to Tasmania! Arrive at Hobart airport and pick up your rental vehicle. Spend the day exploring Hobart with its vibrant waterfront and Salamanca Place, with its Georgian sandstone buildings, and historic Battery Point. Admire stunning views over southern Tasmania from the lofty heights of Mount Wellington.

All Budget car rental rates are inclusive rates. Rates include unlimited kilometres, airport surcharges, reduced liability coverage, administration fee and vehicle registration.

Day 2: Hobart – Derwent Valley – Mt. Field National Park

Today, your journey through the picturesque Derwent Valley dotted with orchards, hop fields and quaint reminders of the historic origins of the area to the Mount Field National Park, the oldest National Park in the state. Explore the green forest canopy where you crane your neck to see some of the tallest flowering trees in the world. The majesty of Russell Falls is revealed after a short stroll through the lush rain forest. Later this afternoon make your way to the Truffles Lodge, also called a five stars hotel under canvas, nestled at the banks of the mighty Derwent River.

Day 3: Explore the Derwent Valley

Days out in the nature invites to be active. Take a swim in the nearby river, hire a bike to explore the area, visit the many vineyards around or just relax at your wonderful and relaxing accommodation and listen diverse sounds the nature offers far away from civilization.

Day 4: Derwent Valley – Tasmanian East-Coast

Leave silence or the Derwent Valley and make your way to the sunny east-coast and towards the magnifique Freycinet Peninsula. Pass quaint sea-side tows such as Orford, Triabunna and Swansea and arrive at in Scamander late afternoon. Check in to you your glamping tent and enjoy beautiful views onto the Tasman Sea and the Steels Beach which is only steps away.

Day 5: Freycinet Peninsula or Bay of Fires

Today, you might like to stroll along the beautiful Friendly Beaches and visit Cape Tourville Lighthouse. Alternatively, you may want to enjoy a cruise to the world-renowned Wineglass Bay (extra cost). The Wineglass Bay beach has been rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Or you want to visit the Bay of Fires conservation area instead. There are many options to visit along the stunning East-coast of Tasmania.

Day 6: Scamander – (Bay of Fires) – Launceston

Tasmania’s east coast offers even more to see. Travel approximately 90 minutes further northbound if not done yesterday and arrive at the stunning Bay of Fires reserve. Walk over granite rocks, covered in orange-lichen and walk on the whitest sandy beaches. Continue your journey passing St Columba Falls, some of the highest waterfalls in Tasmania and through high-country before you arrive in Launceston, Tasmania’s second biggest city situated on the banks of the Esk and Tamar rivers.

Day 7: Launceston – West Tamar Valley

This morning visit Cataract Gorge where the South Esk River forces its way through sheer rocky cliffs. Travel along the Tamar River and visit some of the many vineyards. You may even visit a man-made swiss village called Grindelwald or just check in as early as possible to your next glamping experience for the following 2 nights.

Day 8: Glamping Tasmania

Today there are many options to explore. Travel north and cross the Batman Bridge then head further north towards Low Head and look out for penguins. Or check in into the Platypus and Seahorse world to explore these lovely animals. You may also choose to do a full day excursion to Cradle Mountain instead or just relax and further unwind yourself.

Day 9: West Tamar Valley – Launceston Departure

Today it means farewell from Tasmania! A short 45-minute drive takes you back to Launceston airport in time for your departure flight to the mainland of Australia. Return your hire care at the airport followed by the check-in for your flight.
