Day One – Board the Ghan in Darwin
Settle in to the comforts of The Ghan, relax in your cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the Outback Explorer Lounge. Enjoy lunch ahead of your first Off Train Excursion in Katherine. In a region renowned for jaw-dropping natural assets, Katherine boasts one of the Top End’s best – the incredible Nitmiluk Gorge lies within the massive 292,000 hectares of the Nitmiluk National Park, and you have the chance to explore it from the water with guided cruise options. Alternatively, from April to October, join the Katherine Outback Experience and take part in informative discussions about what it’s really like to work this tough, isolated, arid land.

Day Two – the Ghan, Alice Springs
Your arrival into Alice Springs after breakfast provides you with time to explore the iconic town in the red heart of Australia. Your Off Train Excursion choices today include include visiting the spectacular Alice Springs Desert Park and Reptile Centre, walking Simpsons Gap, and exploring the historic Telegraph Station and Royal Flying Doctor Service. Day Three – the Ghan, Adelaide
After completing the famous north-south crossing of the interior you will arrive into Adelaide. A thriving modern city and ultimately one of Australia’s great beaches all in the space of a few hours. Make your way to the beachside suburb of Glenelg and check in to your accommodation.

Day Four – Leisure Day
Enjoy a free day relaxing in picturesque Glenelg, taking in its trendy cafés and typically spectacular restaurants Adelaide is famous for. If you’d like to sample another of the region’s signature specialties, consider an optional guided tour to the acclaimed South Australian wineries.
Day Five – Victor Harbor
Today it’s time to experience more beautiful beaches on a tour that also takes you to the southern Mount Lofty Ranges and to the delightful coastal town, Victor Harbor. Here a horse-drawn tram will carry you in the style of yesteryear across the causeway to Granite Island. After a restaurant lunch in town, get ready to board the famous Cockle Train to Goolwa – a much-loved steam train journey to the mouth of the mighty Murray River. Following afternoon tea in historic Willunga, you’ll be returned to your Glenelg accommodation. (L)
Day Six – Glenelg
You are about to experience a day that will provide memories that will last for years. In the waters off Glenelg, you’ll get to swim with dolphins! Temptation was the first vessel to be licensed in the State to operate these intimate encounters, and the dolphins are now accustomed to seeking out the boat as it approaches. Wetsuits and snorkels are provided for this unique and unforgettable connection with nature to cap off a wonderful few days revelling in some incredible coastal experiences.
Day Seven – Farewell
After a relaxing break in Glenelg, it’s time to have one last stroll along the promenade before farewelling your beachside accommodation and prepare for your onward journey home.
