Sunday 4 November Oxford & Windsor Castle Today is your full day tour out to Oxford and Windsor Castle. Pay a visit to Christ Church College Oxford, the largest and arguably most renowned of Oxford’s many colleges. Founded by Cardinal Thomas Woolsey in 1524, the grandiose complex includes architectural highlights like Sir Christopher Wren’s Great Tom bell tower and the Great Hall. Despite being just one of 38 colleges, for many visitors to Oxford, Christ Church is synonymous with Oxford University. Today, the legendary buildings see almost as many tourists as they do students. Next, stroll through Windsor Castle, the largest working castle in the world that is still occupied by monarchy. For over 900 years, since William the Conqueror built a wooden fortress here, this has been a royal home and fortress. Queen Elizabeth spends a month at Easter, a week in June and most weekends at Windsor. Visit St George’s Chapel where many royal weddings and funerals have occurred and where the Queen Mother and Henry VIII are buried in the chapel.
